报告人简介
Prof. KEN P. CHONG(张建平), earned his AM, MSE, Ph.D. in Mechanics from Princeton University. He is aResearch Professor at the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Dept. of the George Washington University, and a former Associate at the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST). He finished publishing books on mechanics; editing an Elsevier structures journal (1987-2013), co-founded a new Taylor & Francis journal of Smart and Nano Materials and editing a Spon book series on structures and mechanics; serving on university boards, doing lectures, teaching, research, and consulting. He has been the Engineering Advisor and Director of Mechanics and Materials for the past 21 years at the National Science Foundation (NSF). He was the Interim Division Director at NSF in 2005. He retired from NSF in 2010. He specializes in solid-mechanics/materials, nano-mechanics, and structural mechanics, including nano-technology, green engineering and sustainability, education and strategic planning.

报告内容:
An outlook and overview on fundamental and translational research including innovation, creative learning, and converging technologies that are the primary drivers of the 4th Industrial Revolution will be presented, followed by some new developments in 4D printing, quantum computing, smart manufacturing, nano-, bio-, information-technologies and cognitive sciences. Convergence of these disruptive, translational and transformative technologies will be discussed. Examples in nano mechanics/materials, simulation methods, and others will be presented.
